would the world be better off without sweatshops? a missionary living in cambodia was talking about how overjoyed this village was because adidas was going to set up a factory there, and by factory it meant 10 sewing machines in a lean-to. also i just bought some new balance shoes and i looked them up and they're notable because they've maintained a workforce in the states rather than outsourcing labour.

why isn't shoe/clothing production automated by now? if it were, would that benefit anyone? the price of labour in these poor countries is near negligible, but makes a hell of a difference to them. or would it be better to set up the factories closer to home? or would it be better to outsource the work, but pay the workers a similar wage?

The employee handbook warns that employees working in creative areas “will come into contact with sexually charged language and visual images. This is part of the job.”

Getting sexually harassed is probably somewhere in there too

why doesn't someone just kick his creepy ass

you could get away with it too and it would be totally awesome to punch the owner of american apparel in the face. I guess the kind of people that wouldn't put up with that shit wouldn't be working there in the first place either then though.

ahhhh

i think it would be better to build factories close to home or pay the people in other countries the same wage that they would get in the US, not some bullshit scaled wage.

I'd like the top half of a fine black leather gentleman's shoe with the sole of a converse all star please. What a load of cobblers!
