Today when i went to lecture there was a zune in my usual seat. I asked everyone around me if it belonged to them or if they saw who was sitting there previously, and no one knew anything. Since thats about as far as my morals go, I now have a new zune. My questions are:
does zune have protection in place? like if i just found it will it let me synch it?
do i need special software to use it? is it free?
can i upload whatever i want onto it or does it have to be from the zune network?
if i can synch it to my pc is there a way to keep some of the stuff on it? hes got some cool shit i wouldnt mind hanging onto.
basically tell me what you can about Zune, because i seriously didn't think anyone owned one.

the zune is an mp3 player made by the microsoft corporation, you can synch the zune using common microsoft software such as windows media player(included in the microsoft operating system Windows).

Vell,
I made it sound like i did nothing, but i seriously asked everyone around me not only if it was theirs, but if they had seen anyone in the area before class. i even made this kid take off his headphones and listen to me. My school doesn't really have a lost and found(i know because i've lost shit and tried to find it) so even if i took it to someone in the main building it wouldnt find its way home. Yeah i coudl take it to the police, or post a craigslist add, but i don't really feel the need to go that far.

I know it is very cliche but HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF applies very well to this situation.

I know if I lost my +$200 MP3 player I'd be freakin the fuck out and looking for it. Just because this person didn't notice it was missing right away doesn't mean they're not out looking for it right now.

I'd get to class a few minutes early and ask the professor that teaches the class before yours to make an announcement at the end of class. See if anyone responds with "YESSS."

yeah you should have given it to the professor in the first place, chances are they'll be in that room with the same class again on another day and the person that left it will ask if anyone found it, you don't have to GO TO THE POLICE to try a little harder, straight up taking it was a dick move, you would have been better off leaving it where you found it than going out of your way to remove it from the place someone would be looking for it in

the professor doesn't teach 2 classes in a row. it's different people. the other professor is already gone when i get there. I didn't straight up take it either. I asked EVERYONE about it. Sorry if that's not enough ok? guys. i respect your opinions, but honestly this thread is not about how much of an asshole i am. can someone please answer my questions about the damn device?

Im sorry I dont know much about the zune (since im an apple ipod user/fanboyfaggot) but I did find a place that could help you good sir.

http://www.zune.net/...ted/default.htm

if you've never had a zune before that site should help ^.

you're a horrible person for taking the zune from your desk.

ahhh I kid I'd do the same. I prolly wouldnt even ask around, quietly slip on to the desk, sit on the zune, wait 15 minutes into the lecture, pretend like im scratching my ass and slip the zune into my pocket. But thats just me ;).

it'll probably have identifying data on it, like when you plug it in it'll say "BENS ZUNE" and it'll have a geography assignment on it

thanks for the finnish lesson. Look, I really feel like i'm not doing anything wrong here, but next week i'll try to get to class earlier to ask about it, just because you assholes are making me feel bad. Let me just defend myself here: It is NOT my job to hunt someone down if they lose their shit. If i didn't take it someone else would have, and probably wouldn't have even asked who it belonged to. This is the last i have to say about this, please answer my questions(zune users)

Yeah, but you're still a huge douchebag if your MAX EFFORT put into this was basically "hey bro is this yours slash do you know the dude who sat here? No??? SWEET" .

It's really funny watching you explain yourself and convince yourself that you are FREE OF GUILT because you asked a couple of people if they know who sits at a specific seat. *wipes sweat off brow* WELP I guess they must have meant to leave it there!

I'm glad we are making you feel like assholes because

Since thats about as far as my morals go, I now have a new zune.

otherwise you would have had no reservations in pocketing someone's property.

NEWSFLASH: This isn't like finding a $10 bill in the middle of a mall parking lot where there is no chance of ever finding the owner. You are in a classroom where the SAME PEOPLE return to the SAME LOCATION multiple times a week. You have the ability to give it back. Unlike placing an ad, It doesn't cost you anything.

disagree:
1.like i already said. not my job to find people who lose their shit, or as i like to call them 'losers.'
2. again like i already said i am gunna try to get there next week and ask around.
3. being a "huge douchebag" is arbitrary. for instance, i think you pretty much fit the bill right now for judging a person you've never met based on something that totally has nothing to do with you.  :shh:

you're amazing

anyway, do whatever you want but you know that if you keep the zune, it's practically stealing. no one left it for you and even though you found it, that doesn't suddenly make it yours. don't try to justify it by saying others would do the same because that doesn't make it right. you can definitely take it somewhere (TEACHERS ROOM?) instead of keeping it yourself.

guys GUYS let's try and keep this on topic, of how to use zunes rather than how to steal them. kami, do you know how do use a usb cable? there should be a big end and a small end (one should be quite small, like just a little bit bigger than the cable itself, the other will be flat and maybe 3 times as wide). there should be a place on the zune where the small cable slots into. this may take a few trys, if it's still not working try rotating the cable, it may be upside down. likewise, on your computer there should be a slot that the big end fits into. this can be a little difficult but keep at it and you'll be rewarded.

hope i've helped

hahaha man you really are a douchebag though!  listen, even though it is common courtesy, i'll help you out here--sure, you AREN'T AT ALL obligated to find out who it belongs to.  you know what else?  you aren't obligated to take it either.  you're not even justified in just taking it away from the place the person would likely come to find it.  you could have just left it in the hopes that the person who left it would (and this is MOST LIKELY WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED) come back for it.  we don't have to know anything else about you except that you did this to think you're an asshole.  stop getting so defensive over something you did wrong, how about you just go and put it back in the classroom where you found it or leave a note on the door saying you found it or SOMETHING and try to set this whole thing right instead of just getting all excited over your new mp3 player while some other guy is upset that his zune is gone.
