where are you getting all this from? you seem to be pulling this stuff out like a machine

mostly vague memories + googlin'... plus skimming through sites like videogameauctions.com & lostlevels.org for retro curios

our own irc regular dajhail covered Pepsiman PSX on his (great) gaming blog http://superadventur...psiman-psx.html

ooh that IS a great blog, thanks for mentioning it! I'll have to take a proper look through the archives

actually i think i first knew about Pepsiman from reading through the big ol' Dump Topic here on Salt World...

(also i just found out that pepsi invaders never had a box or even a label on the cartridge, that pic i posted is a fan-made one... i'm gonna leave it in though)

early Dr. Mario prototypes:

featuring Dr. Mario's patient, Sneezing Dog

also the game was originally literally a modified version of Tetris... Tetris music data is even present on the prototype ROM (replaced in the final version though)

(thanks to fine folk at the LostLevels.org forums for this!)

the 1991 Sonic the Hedgehog Bible was an internal document produced by Sega of America, to establish Sonic mythology/brand

there don't seem to be any full scans of the final doc online, but several purported draft versions provided by Dean Sitton were posted on the SonicRetro.org forums

Wouldn't that leather thingy on the right hand side be uncomfortable to hold? Like it doesn't look massively secure, wouldn't it move around? I can imagine being forced to totally take it off during playing.

Yeah while it's aesthetically great it looks like it'd be really terrible as a controller (coincidentally me and my friends were discussing how the gamecube controller is one of the best controllers last night). I assume that's why they dropped the idea. the book for the box is crazy great though! i wonder what the final insides were going to look like.

finally a controller that, if I hold it backwards, will make me feel like im spreading an unrealistically small person's ass, awaiting my pulsating "input."

edit: forgot that sonic bible sounds amazing, sega should do something with it. imagine a cell-shaded, cartoony sonic game based off the "sonic bible" complete with jaleel white's spot on sonic characterization...

omg if sega made a sonic game based off the funny cartoon sonic, with colorful outliney graphics........  be so good. well sega, I'm waiting

fan project "BB4CPC" by César Nicolás González sets out to prove that a much more faithful adaptation of Bubble Bobble was possible on the Amstrad CPC:
