I find it rather humorous people refuse to download a 60mb game.  Who the fuck still has dial up these days?  It took me less than a half hour to download the game.

One thing that caused me to stop playing this game and post this was the EXTREMELY ANNOYING propaganda that gets spit out at me for 4-6 text screens every time I want to save. Although I agree with much of what you say, there is really no need to put this in a game. It makes it seem very unprofessional and just plain annoying and in my case ruined the whole appeal of the game. Now, let me explain why I call it propaganda, yet say why I agree with most of it.

First off, you state your opinion in a very racist and one sided way, in fact, it's states in such a way it makes YOU sound very unintelligent and in fact, ignorant. For instance, you mention how games like Madden and Quake are ruining gaming and how the people who play those games are stupid [this is what I, and many people I have spoken to, have taken from it]. First off, I don't particularly disagree with you, I don't like either of those games or either of those genres.

However, as a professional game developer myself, the first thing I had to come to terms with, (and which you very much need to) is the fact that not everyone likes the same games as you. In fact this can be broadened to the fact that people have different OPINIONS, which can not be validated as right or wrong since they are OPINIONS. Some people are who big sports fans will like playing sports games. Who are you to judge their intelligence? I won't even get into your racist statements since I myself do not want to get into it since it would add too many paragraphs to this post.

Let me say this: it convinced me you are FAR FAR more ignorant than those you insult. But from a professional point of view, this is absurd, this propaganda has no place in a game, especially in one where all the other aspects are excellent.

So in summary, keep your opinions/politics out of your game or you will lose fans. You just lost my support, respect, and that of many other people I know by having such ignorant propaganda in your game. Now I will leave you with a few words from the father of philosophy: Socrates. "All I know is that I do not know anything." Please think this over and try to raise yourself about your ignorance.

Thank you and have a good day.

EDIT:
OK so I finished it and here's my mini review:

The story, graphics, music, sound were all really really good man, but I think you need to work on balance. Honestly, half way through the game if the story wasn't as good as it was, and if the rest of the package wasn't very good, I would of quit because battles were completely boring. People would do a 10 hit move and all 10 hits would miss, or if they did hit I'd take like 5% damage, or I'd get hit by 1 super awesome move for half my health, but that doesn't matter since money was so easy to come by I had like 50 things to heal it back up in a second.

I never died past the factory mark, ever. Before that I had lost once or twice, but after it it was impossible for me to die unless if I did nothing.

Honestly, the battles were pretty horrible but I found myself running into enemies since the actual battle system itself is really creative, I like having to time button presses and crap, I like that stuff. I love Shadow Hearts and Legend of Dragoon for the same reasons really.

EDIT #2: Also I loved the somewhat innovative enemies, like the mechanical gatorade bottles that undo themselves and then explode? That was kind of cool.

I think if you could work on balance (maybe it was because I got the Genie's Lamp after the factory....and chose Power?) this could really honestly truly be one of the best freeware RPGs I have ever played, but as for now it is just REALLY REALLY good.

It just seems ridiculous that I am basically god mode and then, at the end its all FINAL BOSS *gets 1 hit KO'd* but whatever, this is still a really fantastic project and I just want to congratulate you guys on a job well done.

*sigh*

I'm quoting a guy who posted in the [DEMO] topic of Barkley, as well as one of the truckpump's (based on the very same post) sayings that Chef added to the game. (which makes it even better since the truckpump's saying is making fun of the game the truckpump is in HILARIOUS.)

review

helor

this game was never intended to be a hard rpg because we would rather have people beat the game rather than quit out of frustration. also the game difficulty varies based off what you do. if you get hidden skills and weapons this will make the game considerably easier, also if you level up that's another factor. this said i agree with you on on the balance on the very last dungeon, but besides that it's the nature of the game that caused it to be unbalanced. for instance
Spoiler
. i made this game so anyone could play it, so that you could do one battle per area and get by with just doing the boss fights. it sounds to me like you fought all the enemies and in this event it's no suprise you had the upper hand later on. my first idea for balance was to have a scaling level system like FF8 but then i felt the player would not feel much progression from their characters and killed that idea. so yeah i had a lot of concerns with balance and i wasn't sure what to do, although i probably could have conjured something better (balance was the very last thing we did).
