This might be a finished game, but I'll leave it in G&DA because: 1) Can't be bothered to make a no-RTP version. 2) It's more of a G&D event than a real game, I'm not looking for criticism or anything.

ALEX IS is the product of a collaborative event where people were asked to create a map or more in two days (though in reality it took a bit more), and submit their creations to be combined in a very random and light hearted game. It is the fourth game in the series (ALEX III can be found here, and ALEX here), and is also the first to not feature RTP Alex as the main character..

This time, you play as Alexis, the RTP heroin who is accused of killing Carol, the magician love interest of Alex. Alexis is thrown into a vast wasteland known as The Wasteland of Endless Illusions, where she wanders around in circles and witnesses horrific hallucinations and illusions. The story is just an excuse though, and each map is unique and doesn't have to follow the storyline. Aside from the intro and ending, this game has 36 maps or parts, sent by 34 people (35 if you count me).

Here are some screenshots:

Before I give you the download. I'd like to thank everyone who contributed. I can't say I enjoyed putting the maps together and testing them endless times, but I hope people will like the final product, and excuse any errors on my part (I can only do so much...). Also thanks to the testers, to Lars, and to Liman. I appreciate it guys!!!

Notes (READ THIS):
  • RTP required
  • Many maps could be skipped by simply dying/losing
  • There could be some bugs, but no game breaking ones... as far as I know.
  • If you get a "not implemented" error, it's a problem with your MP3 playback. You could replace the mp3s in the music folder with midis or look for the MP3 patch.
  • Have fun!

Hmmm... my map I sent you reset itself or something, because it definantly wasn't an rtp castle (it was a graveyard minigame).

Thats pretty disappointing, but so far everything else has been great!

(I promise I did not send in something lame like that, I'm not sure what happened....)

jsnnoa:
I just downloaded it again. While there are some resources for the graveyard map, the map itself is the castle one. Maybe you sent the wrong map? I got weird maps in the past so I didn't think it was wrong or anything. Too late to change things now.

Ok well I just wasted an hour of my life. Props to RPG for compiling this crap...
noteable maps imo: Hedge...cool retrospective for battles/Dragol: Nice effects/Sano: Gotta credit myself for putting effort into it. (8 Hours to be exact)

Anyways I know this isn't serious but it would have been nice to see more than 20 minutes of work into 80% of the maps.

    * Ekuell  (The Forest of People Who Can't See in the Dark)
- Your map was okay. Dunno why you decided to lower the walking speed! But it was good for what it was.

    * halibabica (Comic World)
- I dug your comics map. But again, slow walking speed! I don't know if RPG fixed it but I thought it was one of the better maps in this lot. Cool doodles.

    * neo prime (Scores and Teleports and Gobi)
- Didn't really get it! But it wasn't too bad.

    * Dudesoft (Moustache's Hidden Zone)
- This was actually kinda funny. Don't touch my mustache!

    * Ralph (The Murder Inn)
- Didn't end up solving the murder...

    * LordBlueRouge
- "Dodge This" - Just ended up offing myself because didn't want to keep dodging that thing for too long.

- "Convicts, Cliffs N' Criminals" - I actually thought this was a neat minigame. Too bad my keyboard will break if I continue button-mashing for 3 minutes! You should have done it for 45 seconds instead. Who do you expect will really do that for 3 minutes?

    * jackdanielsd (Endless Void II : Samurai Wars)
- Pfffft!

    * Skie Fortress (Alex vs. Klaus)
- I guess this was okay! I never got the whole Klaus thing.

    * Kazesui
- "Dark Dungeon" - This was pretty neat. Though some of the puzzles got a bit annoying with their difficulty, I appreciated this. Good job.

- "The Nightmare" - Another great gameplay map. That must've taken you a while to code all those attacks from the witch! Once again, good job.

    * Psyburn (Kef Presents: Temple of Tarantino)
- I thought it was sort of funny at first but what the fuck compelled you to make this man. This was the worst fucking map in the whole game and any Alex game and any RPG Maker game ever released. Congratufuckinglations, you have outdone yourself, Psyburn! I can't think of any other way that would make map less playable, man! I laugh when I think about it now but jesus fucking christ!

    * Strangeluv (Bridging the Gap)
- =)

    * jsnnoa (RPG Maker Castle)
- Nice castle, I guess!

    * Cardinal Ximenez
- "RPG Maker Hell" - You know, I actually thought this was pretty funny, being an RM geek and all, and also thought it was pretty accurate as to how an RPG Maker Hell would be like! Good job!

- "Most Egregious Use of RM2K3" - This map sucked so much balls, dude. It cancels out the good job you did with RPG Maker Hell. The one tile step walk or whatever the fuck was the most annoying shit. Maybe you were just aiming to make the worst possible map! Well, you lost to Psyburn!

    * Dragol (1920's)
- This is my favourite map in the game. The only thing that I hated was the slow walking speed (why do people do this?) but you had a bunch of neat stuff in this map, man. I liked the whole atmosphere and thought this was pretty rad and well-done and that ending was the greatest.

    * Liman (Icy Peak)
- Nice ice mountain.

    * Nerdo (The Old Man With Two Dads)
- I thought it was cool. But people unfamiliar with #G&D IRC humour (aka terrible humour) aren't going to like it. But I got the jokes so I did, especially the one with Psyburn's dad.

    * Liberty (Teaching Tongues)
- Twas a bit slow and didactic and I think this had slow walking speed too. But it was cool. Bonjour.

    * AznChipmunk (Encounter)
- Really nice atmosphere. I beat the minigame in one turn. Wished there was more to it.

    * Ocean's Dream (Paradise)
- I didn't get it but nice beach.

    * PkUltimaga (The Riddle)
- You're on your way to becoming a great RPG Maker, man.

    * Dyne (Attack of the Clones)
- This was kind of creepy.

    * Bobberticus (Quebec)
- lol switch  lol switch joke

    * Tau (Death)
- I thought the Death entrance was cool.

    * Nessiah (The Memory)
- ANIME TAKEOVER! ANIME TAKEOVER! /!\ ANIME EMERGENCY /!\

    * hedge[1] (The RPGMaker Battle System Museum)
- The music you used for this was creepy as hell, man. Being an RM nerd, I caught all the jokes and enjoyed this one a lot. I thought it was pretty good.

    * elkalo (Another Forest Map)
- OVERLAY TAKEOVER! Seriously man, this could have at least looked good without that retarded-ass overlay.

    * YDS (Lost Dreams)
- Most people hate the people who you cameo'd. Don't know how this is gonna shake!

    * Chef Boyardee (Purgatory)
- Funny at first but it stretched on for too long! But the random skeleton man made me laugh.

    * King of Games (Gentleman's Challenge)
- I guess it's a bit much for an Alex map. Too bad the pretend CBS is bugged!

    * Clucky (Sky Town)
- Nice cluckers.

    * Arcan (Alex Racing)
- Should have been set in the Millennial Fair.

    * Sanosuke (Dice and Cards)
- This is where I usually lay down a couple of punches. Xenosoft did this same thing with the first Alex. This is a blatant advertisement for your game. And it wasn't really a good one, either. Is this how the maps will look in your finished game, by the way? I don't think it fit very well with RPG Maker. You should have used pictures or animated panoramas or something. The ocean is just still. You can't walk around the back of the house. The games themselves were alright, I guess. But then I kind of threw up in my mouth a little when I saw the "treat" - a screenshot for your game! I was totally blown away, like, it's an advertisement inside an advertisement! For the same product! That's just incredible, man.

    * RPG (Intro and Outro)
- You did a great job with the intro and outro. That intro was one of the best things I've seen in a while. Totally epic. I won't spoil the outro. The world map was pretty good too.

    * Dharma_and_Greg#1fan
- I didn't download the new version...

Most Favourite Maps:
Dragol's "1920's"
Kazesui's "The Nightmare"
Hedge's "RPG Maker Battle System Museum"

Least Favourite Maps:
Psyburn's gay ass map
Sanosuke's, for being a fucking plug
Cardinal Ximinez trying to make the worst map in the game but ended up outdone by Psyburn.

Good job everyone.

@Strangeluv: I see nothing wrong with what I did. I have a feeling your responce to my map was a big fuck you for what happened recently...even if you won't admit it I can feel the hate here.

Also yeah that is how it will look in game if you have a problem with it I suggest you make 60-80 maps in that style and then set up pics to please nit pick shit like that...then I will listen to your complaints...until then I don't give a shit.

A-hum...I won't take back what I said cause that is how I feel but just wanted to apologize (for coming off angry) I guess some people can't see effort and hard work when it slaps them in the face.

Cause I'm still ticked:
Most Favourite Maps:
Dragol's "1920's"
Sanosuke "Dice and cards"
Hedge's "RPG Maker Battle System Museum"

Least Favourite Maps:
Psyburn's gay ass map
Strangeluv's for being a waste of time
Cardinal Ximinez trying to make the worst map in the game but ended up outdone by Psyburn.

YAY!

Oh please. Don't be an ass. Your map was a pretty blatant plug, whether you see it or not. There's nothing wrong with that, but you shouldn't even bother trying to deny it. And then, to top it off, copying Strangeluv's list and saying that your map was one of your favorites and that Strangeluv's was one of your least just because he called you out is extremely immature. You're better than that.

ANYWAY. On to business.

Favorite Maps
Dudesoft's "Mustaches Forbidden Zone" - I actually laughed out loud a few times during this one. Great humor in it!
Strangeluv's "Bridging the Gap" - I also laughed out loud during this one. Good job.
hedge[1]'s "The Museum of the History of the Battle System of RPG Maker" - This was a pretty funny map and I enjoyed watching the different interpretations of the battle systems. The music was kinda jacked up though.

Least Favorite Maps
Psyburn's "Kef Presents: The Temple of Tarantino" - Holy hell, do you purposefully shit out the worst thing you can possibly conceive and send it in? This was terrible.
King of Games's "Gentleman's Challenge!" - The walking speed was pretty terrible, and it lead to a pretty bugged up and uninteresting battle. You can do better.
Cardinal Ximenez's "Most Egregious Abuse of RM2k3" - This may have been interesting if it weren't for the jacked up walking. Your other map was pretty great though.

And holy shit the ending.
Spoiler
All in all though I really enjoyed this one. Great job everybody!

Or maybe it was a pretty good complaint. Your map is a plug for your game, you even get a screen from it.

Or you can listen to his complaints because whether you like it or not, it's still valid criticism. That's like saying everyone should ignore movie critics because they haven't made a movie, or we shouldn't review professional big name games like GTA4 because we haven't made a professional big name game like GTA4. It's retarded.

Being put into the worst maps category when I spent 8 hours on that thing is obvious bs....that is no compliment.

As for your second point, yes it is valid but I think if he or anyone for that matter made the maps that I have been making he would never made that statement. This isn't stuff done in rm editor it literally takes a substancial amount of effort and time to make these and to say nothing but "The ocean wasn't moving and u can't move behind walls" is nothing but a slap to my face and all my work.....

I'm not trying to be anyone man, just being myself and excuse me if I feel a little insecure about anything anyone says anymore cause we all know I am "naive and gullible"...so I'd rather not be taken for granted here.

If you are being honest then thanks...and sorry for my sarcastic remark in my prior post.
