Kazesui:
I'm not sure. I might have removed it while testing the map to be able to save, and then forgot to add it back. That'd explain the problem with 0 on numpad (I don't have a numpad on this laptop so I just use 0 on the keyboard and that doesn't call the main menu). The newer update doesn't fix that, if people find at least one major bug I could fix I might do another update that fixes the problem with your map as well.

Dark Dungeon is my favorite ALEX IS map, by the way.

Strangeluv:
How come you never found the 0/menu bug, then? And I thought getting a lot of beta testers will help me find all the bugs :(

Nessiah:
Well Nessiah, I liked your map. It was different from all the other maps, and it had nice graphics. It's hard to tell how many times you have to wait before attacking, however, I had to play 3 times to get it right. Still, people should appreciate the effort put in the map, at least.

Yeah, that map was kinda dull but well written. Your map was bad and had some really annoying dialogue and five big faces that got slapped onto your screen without a warning. No one is out to get you... your map is just one of the less popular ones.

And yes, Chef can make any shit these days because of the positive attention he and ToG received with Barkley. When you become the new Spielberg you can make shit too and people will still applaud you.

I can only guarantee that the race will work correctly the first time. Play it anymore than that and you are asking for your game to crash.

that guarantee isn't worth much I'm afraid. It broke down on my first try. I choose the green one, the green one ended first, and when the last one reached goal, the game crashed

All righty, might as well say what I thought.

Ekuell  (The Forest of People Who Can't See in the Dark)
Good job with the lighting and stuff, I know that can be a pain.  Could've been a bit tougher, though...that system has a lot of potential.

halibabica (Comic World)
Yay, I'm not on anyone's MOST HATED MAPS lists (yet)

neo prime (Scores and Teleports and Gobi)
Not bad, not all that enthralling, either.  I picked up all the stuff, but I didn't kill anybody (I didn't know they were bad...)

Dudesoft (Moustache's Hidden Zone)
This is inexplicable funny.  It doesn't seem like it should be, and yet...it is.  And I noticed how you spelled out stuff with stuff (rock, water, ice, etc.)

Ralph (The Murder Inn)
This was nice.  I would've liked the mystery to be a little more in depth.  It was almost too easy, though including the library hours was a good idea.

LordBlueRouge (DodgeThis)
This was fun, and I definitely liked how the music flowed along with his shooting.  Sadly, I died with about 5 seconds left.  I'll have to try that again, it was fun!

fatty (Endless Void II : Samurai Wars)
Throwback to ALEX III?  Eh...trends...

Skie Fortress (Alex vs. Klaus)
Also a throwback to ALEX III.  Alex still can't beat Klaus...but can anyone?

Psyburn (Kef Presents: Temple of Tarantino)
I can see why a lot of people complained about this, but I don't think it was totally unbearable.  I think it would've been better to erase the faces before letting the player explore, or cut out roughly half the NPCs.  It didn't have to be bad, just both of those features together made it too much.

Strangeluv (Bridging the Gap)
Scatting penguin caught me completely off guard.  Hilarious.

jsnnoa (RPG Maker Castle)
It's oddly built for a castle, but then again, it wasn't meant for the public.

Cardinal Ximenez (RPG Maker Hell)
Heh heh heh, something tells me we'd all go to RPG Maker Hell for one or more of those reasons.

Cardinal Ximenez (Most Egregious Abuse of RM2K3)
This was unbearable for me.  I could've tolerated the monsters and dungeon crawling, but not     one     square     at     a     time!  I might try it again later just to see what else is there, but it's really a pain to get around.

Dragol (1920's)
This map was beautiful.  The gameplay aspects of it were lacking, but it's invincible graphically.  Top notch work, Dragol!

Liman (Icy Peak)
I like climbing mountains, but this one could've used more to do.

Nerdo (The Old Man With Two Dads)
Argh in-jokes, I am clearly not one of the "cool kids"

Liberty (Teaching Tongues)
I liked it, except for the part where I couldn't escape.  I'll have to redownload it and try again, it's the only map I couldn't escape in one way or another.

AznChipmunk (Encounter)
Reminded me of "Rumors of a Lost Religious Site" from one of the game making competitions.  Fun minigame, but not all that interesting.  Strange that Nessiah use "Sixela" as well.

Ocean's Dream (Paradise)
I feel really bad for Alexis in this one.

PkUltimaga (The Riddle)
I got the reference, but I never really cared for that joke anyway.  The jumping puzzle was nice, though.

Dyne (Attack of the Clones)
This was neat.  Not knowing which Alexis was the real one definitely made things tricky.  Although I think I saw one get stuck in a tree.

Bobberticus (Quebec)
Eh, I'm not much for "lol [something]" jokes, but it was a nice-looking map.  I think I exited it too early...

Tau (Death)
And Alexis wonders why she never learns anything

Nessiah (The Memory)
I liked the art, but would've preferred a place to explore.  I'll have to go back and give Carol what's for later.

hedge[1] (The RPGMaker Battle System Museum)
This was just great.  I loved how the CBS was exactly the same as the first exhibit.  It's like the concept deteriorated over time instead of improving.

Kazesui, Nightmare
Your intro for the Carol boss was really great!  I would've tried to beat her, but damn, she takes a lot of whacks!  I just couldn't keep up...

elkalo (Another Forest Map)
The atmosphere was good, but it was too difficult to navigate.

Verridian (Lost Dreams)
GW cameos?  Maybe if I knew you guys better...

Chef Boyardee (Purgatory)
Awfully long and mostly over my head, but funny nonetheless.  This reminded me of all the ridiculous stuff in Barkley that took itself seriously.

King of Games (Gentleman's Challenge)
Fun, too bad about the glitched attack selections.  Good thing that Typhlosion knew Rock Smash, too.

Clucky (Sky Town)
Reminded me of the old recurring chicken from the previous ALEX games.  And the Blimp Chicken was just awesome.

Arcan (Alex Racing)
I chose orange and won somehow.  It was really neat how you set this up, but even after the race, it still kept giving me the options to make my Alex try harder.  You're breaking my balls!

Sanosuke (Dice and Cards)
The map looked nice, and I've never seen your project, so it didn't matter to me that it was a plug.  I had a good time with the games, but only after I figured out the top pictures were his and the bottom ones mine.  And I really liked the RTP-themed playing cards.

RPG (Intro, Worldmap and Ending)
The intro was great, the ending was great, nothing to complain about here.

Dharma_and_Greg#1fan
What did Feldslacht ever do to you?

All in all, I think it wasn't quite as good as ALEX III.  It still has it's charms, though, and the world map is a really nice edition.  Again, good job, everybody!  I'll have to cook up something good for next time (b/c there better be a next time).

Oh, I forgot to mention how much Ekuell's map reminded of that game that started in a forest (the one where you had really low stats and you chose your class at the beginning?). It had a really obvious name that I am not able to recall right now, but it used the same inside/outside roof thing and the same chipset and it made me really want to play that game again!

Sorry guys. I just thought I'd briefly mention a few things about the maps I submitted.
[Hide]
Dodge This:  The only way you can beat this map is to, in fact run around in circles. Once the difficulty ranks up, all you can really do is pick and choose when to get hit. Like say "I'd rather get shot once then 5 times in a row." I wanted to implement, as someone mentioned earlier "a half second of invincibility after being hit" but at the time, I didn't know how to do it and also, I felt it would've made the game too easy. So instead I just added a reasonable amount of hits points.

EDIT: So if you do get "stuck" just hold down the direction you want to go in, (all with the exception of up) and wait for the gunfire to pass.

Convicts Cliffs n' Criminals: I personally want to apologize to hedge, for the bug he uncovered (this one actually caught me by surprise, I only came across it once during testing, so I played it a few more times just to be sure, but I couldn't find it). Let me know if anyone else uncovers the same problem. Next time I'll be sure to thoroughly test my maps before submitting them.

Anyways, I find that the only way I can beat this map is to cheat and switch hands in between mashing the z and x buttons. What I planned to do originally was just have the player mash z so the player would feel as if they were firing a gun with a very itchy trigger finger. But it proved to be next to impossible to play through so I added x  to make things a little easier. You're a one man army in this map, so naturally your fingers are gonna feel pretty tired after playing this one.

As for the lengths of these maps, when I first read the guidelines for the entries, RPG mentioned that after 5 minutes the player would be allowed to press a button in order to proceed to the next map. So I thought I'd build these maps around this idea; rather then skipping the map, the player could play for a good portion of the game in those 5 minutes. What I originally wanted to do once I completed these maps was take away the timer so then the player would have to play until the music stopped but that probably would've been a bad idea.

Overall, the maps are centered around this idea of survival and endurance; I didn't want to make the games too hard, but hard enough so that there is a chance the player could lose on the first try. At the time though, I didn't realize these minor choices in game design would come off as annoyances. Next time I'll try to make my maps shorter.
[/Hide]
Anyways, thanks for the constructive criticism guys, If there's anything I learned from this project, it's finally being able to learn how to use variables, how to use 'Key Input' as well as being able to work towards a deadline. I'm fairly new to rpgmaker2003 (which is unfortunate seeing as how it's 2008) but I'll be sure to adjust my maps accordingly, if there is another ALEX game.

I also would like to take this opportunity to thank RPG for making this collaboration possible. :)

I could be over critical, but I think you could re-do the story to sound less boring and more interesting for people to read. It's like, a wall of boring events that nobody cares enough to read.

It would be better to strive for the 'essence' of what you are trying to depict, and not think in a practical or literal sense. Just think about the origin of what you want to direct what you want your audience to feel.

Some people thought my map was too hard, while others thought it was too easy. Interesting.

This doesn't say whether or not you liked it...

AznChipmunk (Encounter)
Reminded me of "Rumors of a Lost Religious Site" from one of the game making competitions.  Fun minigame, but not all that interesting.  Strange that Nessiah use "Sixela" as well.

Nessiah's was supposed to be a continuation of mine. (That means it would have been placed right after mine.) I had no idea it was going to have a world map instead... It was supposed to be more about the atmosphere than the gameplay anyways.

If anything... it should remind you more of the minigame in Mindflare... (If you played it, that is.)
