Aereogramme, Anathema, Eustacia, Katatonia, Amplifier and Kunek are some pretty good prog rocky bands that remind me of dredg. Steel was right about 3, Porcupine Tree, and oceansize though.
Anathema and Katatonia are ex (black metal?) bands that do prog rock stuff now so make sure you check out their later stuff if you don't want the harsh vocals and heavy instrumentals.
Oceansize and porcupine tree are both have alot longer instrumental stuff kind of like tool I suggest you check out Oceansize's "everyone get into position" its a pretty good album to start from imo. You prolly know who both these are if you hang around gw.
Eustacia and Kunek are kind of similiar but I can't really explain their music other than they've got some lighter melodies than aforementioned and a tad bit more pop to it if I'm remembering most of their shit correctly.
3 is a fun prog metal band, I really like their vocalist Joey Eppard. They've got a pretty funky sound, the earlier albums (paint by numbers) sounding more R&Bish prog rock and other stuff more metallic (Wake Pig).
Amplifier sounds like PT pretty much if you like pt then you might like amplifier.

also new dredg is p.awesome. i was actually getting really bored of dredg and catch without arms is kinda boring to me nowadays but the new album is pretty different and varying and is more like el cielo than cwa so that was a really positive surprise because i was expecting another catch without arms based on the clips i had heard and my hopes weren't very high. the only thing i dislike on the new album is the fucking post-rock guitar in some songs.
dom have you heard cut copy? you might like em. electropops. they are pretty popular i think so my bet is you already know them though.
and amplifier sounds almost nothing like porcupine tree, at least i can't see the similarities. their first album was pretty similar to oceansize, to the point you could tell they were definitely influenced by them. the second album had maybe one or two decent songs and was mostly some boring rock no one should care about.

ex death/doom for Anathema, ex black/doom for Katatonia. Katatonia's new album should be released somewhere in 2009... I can't wait. New Anathema is due.... it was due over a fucking year ago! I'm really scared it's going to suck major ballsex doom metal

They just sound like british prog rock to me. And no they don't sound exactly like pt that isn't a good comparison.
